Today was the longest travel day on tour - 6 hours of driving time from Rosedale OH to Finncastle VA. The early call time of 7:30 made for a short night, but arriving at our destination with plenty of time to mentally prepare for the concert was very nice.
The long drive was supplemented with various activities including a sharing time about the concert the evening before, sleeping, personal rehearsal time, listening to the livestream of our concert at Rosedale (what can we improve?), playing online games, rehearsing music, reading, singing a bit of John Denver as we entered the Virginia foothills, lively conversation, and more rehearsing music. We also discovered the current average age of the ensemble members is 30.75 (according to Vienna's math).
The bus rides so far have been uneventful, thanks to our capable bus driver, Lavelle.
At Fincastle, we were met with true southern hospitality, and enjoyed a delicious dinner of burgers, fresh fruit, and southern sweet tea.
The church was a beautiful brick building with lovely stained glass windows - a small space, so we felt a little cramped. However, it was fun to sing for such a responsive audience. Based on the occasional amens, spontaneous applause, and conversations afterward, the audience was truly blessed by the concert.
To God be the glory!
Phoebe
